Frequently asked questions for Satellite/Cellular customers
Q. What services can MarineNet Wireless give us satellite users? A. MarineNet Wireless has developed a complete wireless package for POP-3 wireless systems that saves users an incredible amount of satellite/cellular connect time. This is done by up to times 10 acceleration of the Internet connection. Sending accelerated or compressed data through less than 56k satellite or cell phone modems and de-compressing it on our FastSuite servers to the Internet. What that means to you is FastSuite acceleration equals 50% or more reduction in cost per message per minute! Less time on the satellite means few minutes used. A good example of a wireless user is me! When I am on the road
going to business meetings, service calls, installations and boat shows and still need to get my
business and personal mail, add new accounts to the MarineNet system, typically answering and sorting
around 50 e-mails a day. While at the St. Petersburg boat show one year, I whipped out my
Globalstar Sat Phone and plugged in the data cable to my laptop and started
Outlook Express then connected to the Internet which contacts the FastSuite
system here via the
satellite and sent 4 multi page mails and received 11 messages, some with
attachments in less than a minute total! Q. What do you get with a MarineNet Wireless account? A. Each MarineNet Wireless accounts includes the following:
Q. Can I get my AOL or Hot Mail account with this system? A.
Yes and No. AOL is not accessible through their browser like AOL 7, 8, and 9
directly however, you can use the "external" address of www.aol.com
to access your AOL account which also allows FastSuite to accelerate the
connection to AOL. Q. So how do I get my e-mail from Hotmail? A. Hotmail is a web based or POP-3 based service which is fully
compatible with FastSuite. It is suggested the quicker method would be using the
POP-3 method and get your mail through Outlook Express for example. It's really
that simple! Q. I thought I could install the Marine Kit myself but think I need it installed. Can you help? A. Yes! As with all of MarineNet Wireless equipment, we will find you the help you need to get the job done. We offer installation services on Florida's east coast from Miami to Fort Pierce and west coast from Naples to Tampa. Other areas available or we can consult your favorite marine electronics shop for support. Contact us at service@marinenet.net
