• FastSuite Speed Increases To 64K baud
  After several technical improvements on MarineNet servers, we are happy to announce a speed increase of FastSuite Service. Testing was done using Globalstar's 9600 baud Internet connection and results were great as we broke 56K dialup modem speeds! This means Globalstar clients could possibly get  faster Internet service using their satphone over their home dialup Internet service! After extensive testing we are confident that FastSuite offers MarineNet customers the absolute top performance over any other product on the market... we continue to explore methods to offer even faster service.
  
  

• SSB/HF Internet Ship To Shore Service For Cruiser And Commercial Service
   MarineNet Wireless in cooperation with other HF/SSB shore stations globally, are now providing Internet services via marine shortwave channels. Special emphasis is placed on global roaming via the new Global Link Network created by Kiel Radio. Modems are based on SCS, Germany "Free Signal" professional mode of communications. A Compression program is then added to bring up the effective baud rate times 5 or around 4800 to 8K baud which under ideal signal conditions, makes it faster than some basic satellite Internet connections!!! • MarineNet Wireless Dialers Speed Up Installations
  Available to MarineNet Wireless customers... Satellite and SSB dialers answers the call for an easier way to install wireless networking devices, MarineNet Wireless Dialers makes this process simpler than other solutions. Dial-up Installers will automate the process of Windows modem installation, Network setup and E-mail Account setup within one program for all Windows platforms. Custom versions are available for special applications for any network configurations. Creation of multiple "Click To Connect" icon's for multiple wireless Internet devices are easily installed.
  
  

• On-line Tech Support Is Under Utilized
  MarineNet Customers who need technical support must send these requests to service@marinenet.net This ensures streamline distribution to our customer support e-mail pool where tech support staff can get at it for prompt service. Phone calls to MarineNet business office for immediate support may be hit or miss which we would like to avoid! All members are urged to use service@marinenet.net either directly or via MarineNet WebMail.

  Currently MarineNet makes available handy information-to-you robots that when an e-mail is sent to them, will respond with helpful documents on "How-to" use services on MarineNet for example. A list of e-mail links will be sent to you by sending a mail to alltopics@marinenet.net then select the information you need.
  
  

• Real-time FTP Compression Added To FastSuite
  Mainly for our commercial remote data wireless application customers, provides very deep compression on FTP transfers. Non-commercial users benefit where FTP updates of websites and information travels up to 80% faster real-time than non-compressed data.

  MarineNet's wireless website for those bandwidth impaired Internet users that answers the call for more and faster web browser based information for weather mapping, text, charts etc. MarineNet has also updated the available links to news and information services.. Planned WAP enabled website links are available for PDA and Windows "Tablet" based users better access to MarineNet Wireless information and services
  
  

• Dirty Computers Rob Resources!
  One major concern is new customers with computers that have not been maintained or updated! This prompted adding a page to assist users maintain and prepare computers for best possible wireless operation. Free tools have been located and provided free of charge to use on any Windows based computer. See "Taming Windows For Wireless"
  
  

• Viruses Always In The News...
  The latest trends in viruses and Internet worms is to "Spoof" the domain names of e-mail address found in a victims address book! Watch out for official looking mails from Microsoft, MarineNet and many others with new "patch" downloads and information. These are all bogus! We process over 300 e-mails a day so imagine my surprise when I found one supposedly send by administration@marinenet.net when there is no such address here!!! Bottom line is MarineNet or Microsoft will NOT send patches or programs in attachments EVER! 
  
  For any product update: You will be directed to the MarineNet website for downloads if it is from us... and the same true of Microsoft. Rule number one... If you receive an attachment, never assume it is legit and send a mail to the party to verify they really mailed it!!! Be safe not sorry! Even though we scan for viruses on the server, sometimes they still get through as the amount of them is overwhelming, ALWAYS keep your Antivirus program current. If you do not own one or it is out of date... you have NO protection. Goto Tech Support" and then "Programs To Download" and install AVG Free Edition and update it via it's updater service. If you suspect you already have a virus, install the McAfee "Stinger" and run it first.
